Improve text recognition in scanned documents

OCR PDF is useful for scanned contracts, forms, letters, receipts, notes and archived documents where the page image is visible but the text cannot be searched or selected.

What affects OCR accuracy

Recognition quality depends on scan sharpness, page rotation, contrast, typography and image quality. Review important names, numbers and legal text after OCR before relying on the result.

Current OCR PDF limits

The current production OCR supports one PDF up to 50 MB and 30 pages, uses English recognition at 200 DPI, and rasterizes pages while adding a searchable text layer. Multilingual OCR, deskewing, rotation correction and original-vector preservation are not live yet.

Frequently asked questions about OCR PDF

What language does OCR PDF support today?

The first production version supports English OCR. More languages can be added after separate accuracy and runtime testing.

Will OCR change how my PDF looks?

The current V1 renders each page as an image before OCR, so the page remains visually similar but becomes rasterized and file size can increase.

How accurate is OCR?

Accuracy depends heavily on scan quality, resolution, contrast, rotation and typography. Always review important text after recognition.
