How to convert a PDF to Markdown

Select a PDF that already contains selectable text, review its pages locally, then start the conversion. PdfnMore extracts the text in page order, adds Markdown page headings, normalizes common bullet characters and returns a .md file you can preview, copy or download.

1

Select a PDF

Choose one text-bearing PDF up to the current 50 MB and 150-page limits.

2

Convert and review

Run the conversion only when you are ready to upload the file, then inspect the Markdown preview.

3

Copy or download

Copy the extracted Markdown or download the .md file while keeping the original PDF for verification.

Use PDF text in notes and AI workflows

Markdown is easier than fixed-layout PDF content to edit, version in Git, place in a knowledge base or send into a text workflow. The current converter focuses on dependable text-layer extraction rather than claiming OCR or layout reconstruction it does not yet provide.

What PDF to Markdown can and cannot preserve

A PDF stores positioned page content, while Markdown represents text structure. PdfnMore preserves page order and extractable text, but complex columns, tables, links, forms, charts, equations, embedded images and visual hierarchy may flatten or appear in a different reading order. Review names, dates, figures and tables before relying on the output.

Current PDF to Markdown limits

One PDF, 50 MB maximum, 150 pages maximum and 2 MB maximum extracted Markdown. Password-protected files must be unlocked with authorization first. Scanned and image-only PDFs are not OCRed in this V1.

Frequently asked questions about PDF to Markdown

Can PdfnMore convert a scanned PDF to Markdown?

Not in this V1. PDF to Markdown currently requires extractable text already present in the PDF. Image-only or scanned pages need OCR, which is not presented as live until the OCR path is independently tested.

Will tables, columns and formatting look exactly like the PDF?

No. Markdown is a text-oriented format, while PDF is a fixed-layout format. Page order and extractable text are preserved, but complex tables, columns, forms, charts, equations, embedded images and reading order may require manual correction.

What is the current PDF to Markdown limit?

The current workflow accepts one PDF up to 50 MB and up to 150 pages. The extracted Markdown output is bounded to 2 MB so unusually large jobs fail clearly instead of consuming unbounded resources.
