Choose brief or detailed summaries

The summarizer is useful for reports, articles, research notes, manuals and long documents where you want a quick overview before reading the full source.

Use OCR before summarizing scanned PDFs

The current V1 uses local extractive sentence ranking on the PdfnMore server. It does not send document text to an external generative AI provider, and it does not rewrite or invent source content.

Current AI Summarizer limits

The current production summarizer supports one PDF up to 50 MB and 150 pages, with a current extracted-text limit of 600,000 characters. V1 requires selectable text, so scanned/image-only PDFs should use OCR first. Because it is extractive, summaries are built from source sentences rather than newly generated prose.

Frequently asked questions about AI Summarizer

Does the summarizer work with scanned PDFs?

Not directly in V1. Run OCR PDF first so the document has selectable text, then summarize the OCR result.

Is this using an external AI provider?

No. The current V1 uses local extractive ranking on the PdfnMore server and does not send document text to an external generative AI provider.

Can the summary miss important context?

Yes. Any automated summary can omit context. Review the original PDF before relying on the summary for important decisions or publication.
